DASSAULT MIRAGE IIIS WALKAROUND

Dassault Mirage IIIS R-2118

Seen at the Swiss Air Force Museum in late 2015 was this Mirage. The canards were unique to the Swiss Mirages and were retrofitted in the 1980s. In fact, the Swiss-built IIIS aircraft were quite different to the French machines. They were more robust and included lifting points so they could be lifted around inside bomb-proof caverns. The R designation is applied to ground attack variants. Note the camouflage on this one while the J version is in low-vis grey.
