Sikorsky S-58 UH-34 Seahorse YP20 USMC

The S-58 was fitted with a large radial engine. Suitable turbine engines were available at the time, but the US had huge surplus stocks of Pratt & Whitney radials after WWII, so the US Government insisted they be used in helicopters. The British licence-built the S-55 as the Westland Wessex. Having no engine restrictions, the British fitted turbines and had a much more useful and long-lasting aircraft as a result.
