One of the lower profile organisations within the RAAF is the Airfield Construction unit. These guys have been hugely busy over the last few years building and maintaining the forward deployment bases now scattered across Australia's north. These forward bases provide the possibility of deploying aircraft across our northern coastline, rather than having to have them centralised at Darwin, or too far away at Perth or the eastern seaboard. This Mack is one of their fleet. Mack has a proud history of providing the Australian Army with heavy hauslers.
